Dear Partner,

The world continues its relentless assault on the bible trying to destroy people's faith that in truth it is literally the Word of God. Even many "Christian" scholars print articles that seem to exalt them as being so well educated and intellectual … but in truth all they are doing is revealing the foolishness of their carnal thinking. The apostle Paul warned Timothy to be very wary of opposition from "science falsely so called" when he said,

1Timothy 6:20-21   O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

That phrase "falsely so called" can also be translated as "untruly named." Many people proclaim things that are supposedly "true" in the name of "science" … but in fact … what they are saying is not true and therefore not genuine science at all. Don't get me wrong, many times in history science has been ahead of man's understanding of the bible. In ancient times many people thought the earth had to be supported in space by something. The myth of the Greek God Atlas was one of many legends devised by the mind of man supposing that he was holding the earth in space. Of course as science marched forward and telescopes were invented, science discovered that the earth is held in space by no physical support at all. The truth is, however, science was not ahead of the bible. Science was just catching up with what the bible had always declared. Notice this quote from the book of Job:

Job 26:7   He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

For many years mankind thought the earth was flat instead of round. Science eventually discovered the truth that the earth is a sphere instead of a pancake. But again, all that happened was that science catching up with the knowledge that was already made available in the bible:

Isa 40:22   It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

I recently read an article in a Christian magazine stating the account of Noah and the flood as depicted in the bible is not literally true. It was using "so called" scientific discoveries to state that other nations had similar legends long before the time of Noah as given in the bible. When they write such things they do it almost nonchalantly, as if they are saying … "See, you don't have to believe every story in the bible to be true. You can still be a Christian. Just because this story of Noah isn't true, that doesn't mean you can't believe in Jesus." Here is the problem with that reasoning: Jesus HIMSELF teaches that the account of Noah in the bible is true. Notice how Jesus uses the story of Noah to teach about the end times:

Luke 17:26-27   And as it was in the days of Noah, so it also shall be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and the flood came and destroyed them all. MKJ Version

If the story of Noah as stated in the bible is not true, and I mean literally true, then Jesus is in error regarding his teaching and we are all lost. By definition, Jesus is the WORD that was made flesh and dwelled among us. If we cannot trust the teachings of Jesus to be true, then He is not the embodiment of God's WORD!

Remember, Paul warned of trusting "science falsely so called." When these intellectuals present their evidence they are using the limited knowledge of man even to determine the age of the items they are trying to date. They are doing their best with the imperfect understanding they have. I have lived long enough on planet earth to know that "science" is always evolving. Just within the past decade or so I have read "scientific proof" that eggs are bad for you … and then a few years later I read "scientific proof" that eggs are good for you. It is the same with coffee and many other foods. Coffee used to be universally dismissed as being unhealthy to consume. Now "science" is showing that moderate coffee intake helps ward off cancer!

I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1969 with an Industrial Engineering degree. I love genuine science, technology, and mathematics. I am fascinated by every new discovery in space. I love new discoveries in Archaeology. But I have lived on planet earth long enough to know that what man calls "fact" today may be determined to be "false" tomorrow. What man calls "fact" and "truth" and "science" constantly changes. When science flatly disagrees with the bible … that science is wrong! Jesus is the Word who was made flesh. What He said is truth and it will never pass away.

Mat 24:35   Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

John 1:17   For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Jesus doesn't just "have" the truth. He IS the truth. Man's version of truth is constantly changing but the Word of the Lord endures forever. I counsel you with the same counsel Paul used to warn Timothy. Avoid oppositions of science falsely so called. Put them in the same category as profane and vain babblings. Instead, put your trust in the Word of God. It is not only truth now, it will remain the truth for all eternity.
