Welcome to our Partner Letters Archive . . .

Dear Partner,

Have you heard the latest? Now some "churches" are beginning to deny that Jesus was born of a virgin. They are saying He was a good man, but that there was nothing supernatural about his birth. This is just another attempt by Satan to convince mankind that Jesus is not the Son of God, that He is not the Messiah promised in the Old Testament.

There are many fine points of doctrine where good Christians do not agree. But there are certain foundational truths that cannot be compromised. The virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is one of those truths. If Jesus was just a man, a descendent of Adam, then He is disqualified from being the spotless Lamb of God Who could die for the sins of the world.

Rom 3:23   For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

All mankind, every descendent of Adam, has sinned. If a man has sinned even once, he is guilty before God and needs a Savior. That means he cannot be the Savior. I like the way my pastor, Dave Roberson says, “You cannot get a Savior from a spiritually dead gene pool.” Every descendent of Adam is spiritually dead. That’s why every descendent of Adam is disqualified to be the Savior. God Himself had to provide a sacrifice and the only way to do it was for His own Son to become a man, live a sinless life, and die as the spotless Lamb of God on the cross. How was God going to get His Son born into the earth? The bible tells us exactly how;

Luke 1:30-35   And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

If Jesus was not supernaturally conceived by the Holy Ghost in the womb of Mary, He cannot be the Savior. The sacrifice had to be pure, without blemish and without sin. Only Jesus, born of a virgin, was qualified and that's why Satan continually tries to cause people to believe Jesus was just a good man. He was a good man, all right. But He was much more. He was the PERFECT man!

The "natural" mind simply cannot understand how a baby could have been conceived in the womb without a "natural" seed of man. Many people choose not to be Christians because the virgin birth "doesn't make sense" to them. Listen to what the bible says about such thinking:

1 Cor 2:14   But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

All mankind, every descendent of Adam, has sinned. If a man has sinned even once, he is guilty before God and needs a Savior. That means he cannot be the Savior. I like the way my pastor, Dave Roberson says, “You cannot get a Savior from a spiritually dead gene pool.” Every descendent of Adam is spiritually dead. There is currently an onslaught against the foundational truths of Christianity. With great fury the enemy is doing all he can to discredit the integrity of the bible. He knows if he can chip away at the foundational truths and get enough Christians to believe error instead of the truth of God’s Word, the church (and eventually the nation) will begin to topple. In the face of each attack, we must hold fast to our profession of faith and speak with all boldness the truth of God’s only salvation for man.

Acts 4:12   Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Heb 10:23-25   Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Sue and I love you and appreciate you. We thank God for your generous and giving heart. God bless you!

Your friend and co-laborer,

Gary Carpenter
