Each company such as VISA or Discover control their own error messages when you submit wrong information. Most like to be vague so as not to help hackers guessing at your information. For this reason if you enter in a wrong expiration date for example you will receive a general Wrong Card Number message from VISA.

You do have 3 attempts to try and resubmit your card information. Make sure you double check your card number and expiration date written in this format:
4444333322221111    0512   where the expiration date is written --> MMYY.
